Happy New Year!
We’ve made it to the end of my list! I really should have decided to include 10…or 15…or more awesome EdTech tools! This was just too hard!
My #1 tool of 2014 is used nearly every day in my classes. My students use this tool to participate in discussion board activities, which require them to read and respond to a specific text and then COMMENT on each other’s thoughts and opinions on the reading. I create end of unit exams for my students to complete, which can include multiple choice, short answer or essay questions, as well as many other options.
The multiple choice part of the exams are AUTOMATICALLY graded, which has freed up much more of my time, and has also provided the students with immediate feedback.
I can save questions I’ve used to question banks that I create which allow me to add previous questions to exams…specifically final exams.
This tool allows me to create “folders” to share with my students. They LOVE the organization that this tool provides.
What is this amazing tool?
Drum roll, please…………………..
SCHOOLOGY!!!
I am so incredibly glad that I was introduced to this LMS and that I can use this FREE tool (an enterprise license is available for a fee…I use the free version) in my classroom.
My students find this tool extremely easy to use, because many of the features on Schoology are very familiar to them…”this is kind of like Facebook, isn’t it?”
Schoology is available on a variety of platforms…the Chrome app and iOS app are used most often in my classroom.
I’m still learning more and uncovering the great features of Schoology…I just love it!
