I am a HUGE Ellen fan, but never get home from work at the right time to watch her show. However, over Thanksgiving break, I FINALLY got to sit down and watch Ellen (both of my kiddos were napping) and she was playing her super fun game, Heads Up!, with a guest. It was hilarious to watch!
Before long, I found myself wondering how I could use this game in my classroom…you know me, EdTech nerd ๐
Today, I finally just decided to download the app on my iPad, thinking I could at least use the game as a last day of school fun activity for my classes. I scrolled through the available decks, and when I stumbled upon the “Build Your Own Deck!” option, I won’t lie to you, I squealed with glee!!
Yes, the Heads Up! app costs .99 and yes, the “Build Your Own Deck!” option also costs .99. We are teachers, and we already spend WAY too much of our own money on tools for our classrooms.
But, I have to tell you, this is probably the best $1.98 I have ever spent for my classroom!
“Build Your Own Deck!” is so incredibly easy, because you don’t include “multiple choice” type responses, as you normally would in a review game. You simply include a word or phrase!
Can you tell, I’m a little excited about this game?? ๐
So…what will your students get out of this game??
In addition to being able to describe a term, event, phrase, etc, students also must be able to identify a term, event, phrase, etc from a different description than they may be accustomed to. This game is timed, so players must be able to describe and identify the concepts quickly and accurately, which is a huge goal of review games in my classroom!!
Seriously, check out this game. It is WELL WORTH the $1.98 to be able to bring this kind of engaging (and fun!) activity into your classrooms!!
Thanks for reading ๐
