Hello, all! Happy October! I’m in the middle of designing our next American Government HyperDoc over the United States Constitution and jumped down a rabbit-hole of exploring to create a review game for my students with Google Slides. How did I get here? I’m not sure – one minute I was searching for a great site my students could use to explore the creation of the Constitution and the next I was looking at app-smashing dice! That’s the beauty of following your interests, isn’t it?! After looking at many images and examples through Google images, I created a Constitutional Amendments review activity using dice I created with Google Slides!
The amendment review activity is two-fold: one set of dice provides students with a description of the amendments. The other set only gives students the number of the amendment, which would require them to provide the definition – a little harder!
As I was writing this post, I was reminded of a version of BINGO my daughters like to play – one die has the letters B-I-N-G-O and a free space, while the other die has pictures. Players roll both dice and if they have the matching combination on their card, they place a marker on that spot.
To make this work for our Constitution unit, I created a variety of BINGO cards using Google Slides and the Dice Template I made for the amendments activity. One BINGO game will be strictly vocabulary review, while the second BINGO game will require students to apply their knowledge of vocabulary terms. For example, if I roll “Checks and Balances” and the letter “B,” I may be looking for “A Supreme Court Justice has just been impeached” in the “B” column of my BINGO card.
I’ll be sharing these activities soon, but in the meantime, here’s a dice template you can use to create your own dice using Google Slides!
